FranceAgriMer

FranceAgriMer, the French National Institute for Agricultural and Seafood Products, created on 1 April 2009, is responsible for managing the industrial agriculture, breeding, fisheries, aquaculture, wines, fruits and vegetables, horticulture, and perfume, aromatic and medicanal plants industries. In terms of wine growing, it is France's public organization for decisionmaking in the wines sector. Its mission is to orient and regulate the French wine market within the European and worldwide framework.

  • Feminine

  • Finesse

    Quality of a wine that is delicate and elegant and well balanced, offering a velvety, soft structure and subtle aromas.
  • Finish

    The perception of some aspects of wine (flavor and aromas) after it has left the palate. A long finish is an indication of the wine’s aromatic power.
  • Flat

    Said of a wine that lacks both a bouquet and acidity.
  • Fleshiness

    Sensation given by a wine that fills the palate with a round, rich texture.
  • Fleshy

    Said of a wine that is full on the palate, with a chewy consistency. (See CHEWEY)
  • Floral

    Said of a wine that has flowery aromas.
  • Folle Blanche

    A white grape variety that produces very fresh wines.
  • Fragrance

    Synonym for odor, with an added hedonistic connotation.

  • Fresh

    Said of a wine that is slightly acidic, but not excessively so, and produces a fresh sensation that is sought-after for its thirst-quenching properties.
  • Fruity

    Describes a wine with fruity aromas.
  • Full-bodied

    Said of a wine that has all of the qualities desired in a good wine and provides a sensation of fullness on the palate.
